We are working hard on the Jokkmokk2004 project (Moblogging/live blogging of a Northern Scandinavian cultural event) and things are going quite well. Hopefully our blog will be a bit experimental. I am interested in exploring the affordances of blogging – and trying to integrate things that are normally not part of blogs (such as having [...]

I have had problems with my office desktop computer (virus attack + broken video card). Therefore less blogging. And now I am concerned about that the new video card I bought (Matrox Parhelia) cannot manage two flat screens (DVI/digital connection) with seperate resolutions. Stupid!
Anyway, I thought I would say something about the screening of the [...]

This afternoon we will show the film Avatara in HUMlab. It is about the virtual environment called Traveler (which we “use” in several projects). Traveler is such an interesting platform – culturally as well as from the point of view of immersion, presence and mediation. The film was shot in Traveler – which is quite [...]

I was very impressed with the two student presentations at today’s seminar. Concise, visual and theoretical, and really interesting. They would have deserved a larger audience – sometimes doing in-between things is difficult in the sense of attracting an audience. Sometimes I wish for a bit more curiosity.

Jim Barrett is an English literature student who has done a [...]

We have a seminar tomorrow – for which we have done a poster. Jim and I felt that we needed some more low-scale and individual attention today. I took a photo of the poster laying on a table and then added a bit text using my tablet pc (and the pen).

This might be [...]

This past Tuesday we had a poetry event in the HUMlab with Lisa Alfredsson (who has done some work in the lab) and her friends Lisa Mattsson och Towe Wadenstein (their group is called Kokiri).

They are the defending champions in the poetry slam subevent Triathlon and they did a very good performance in the lab. [...]

visualization in the humanities

I have been interested in visualization/representation in the humanities (and elsewhere) for a long time now. My interest stems partly from my own somewhat visual orientation but is also a reaction to the strong textual paradigm of the humanities. The latter point is something I discussed with Don Ihde when he was here a couple [...]
