A workshop with Nina Paley will be held in HUMlab on Friday, 14th October from 13:00-15:00. Nina is a internationally acclaimed and controversial cartoonist, animator and free culture activist, working with issues around copyright and distribution. Her animated film ‘Sita Sings the Blues’ is blocked for German users on YouTube as a result of copyright actions.
Nina Paley´s will be part of the MOVE Film Festival (Umeå, October 10th to 16th), where her animated feature film “Sita Sings the Blues” is screening, accompanied by talks about copyright. HUMlab will be offering an exclusive workshop with Nina on the subject of copyright and distribution.
Nina is a free culture activist and an advocate for a more permissive means of distribution of culture than traditional copyright. As an example “Sita Sings the Blues” has been released under a Creative Commons share-alike license and is completely free to download, view and distribute.
All are welcome to Nina’s workshop in HUMlab under the UB Library at Umeå University!
