Last week, something happened to me. That thing all digital artists fear. My harddrive went belly-up.
It was Sunday, and I was sitting around: meaning to, ironically enough, start my back-ups. I’d popped the first dvd in and moved files onto it, and started the burning

I’m sorry to hear about you loosing your drawings, Linda, that’s really terrible! Still I think you should be happy about winning the prize. I saw you on the local news this morning and felt so proud that you’re affiliated with the lab :-) .
Linda, I am sorry to hear about you loss. The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. Two years worth of writing, images and sound recordings (mine and of others) gone! I still have the dead hard drive on my shelf. I am awaiting for new (affordable) tehnology to arrive so I can extract what is there. I am prepared to keep it on my shelf for ten or twenty years for this to happen.
Kind of like a time capsule.
I have since bought a DVD burner and am backing up as much as possible.
Congratulations on the win (complete with DVD burner I see)
I am sorry to hear about losing your drawings :(
But there is some labs can recover the lost data from an electronically or physically damaged hard disk drives so may there still a chance.
Just google recover damaged hard disk drives.
A big fan
